Nova Scotia Centre on Aging (NSCA)
For more than 30 years, the NSCA has advanced knowledge on aging related issues through research, education and community engagement. NSCA conducts local, provincial, regional and national projects in collaboration with a wide range of public and private sector partners, including other universities and not-for profit organizations in areas such as family and friend caregivers, home care and long term care, and age-friendly communities.
It offers rich and varied learning opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and has developed a sound reputation for producing high-quality relevant materials, which link research to policy development. In 2017 it was the recipient of The Global Ageing Network for Excellence in Applied Research Award. The Centre is under the scientific leadership of Dr. Janice Keefe, Professor and Chair, Department of Family Studies & Gerontology and Lena Isabel Jodrey Chair in Gerontology and supported by a community based advisory board.
